A Broken Gift

A few months after meeting my adorable girlfriend Jessi, we realized we had both been saving broken bracelets from before we met in hopes of having them repaired. Hers was a gift that her sister had purchased on a trip to Turkey.

I decided to surprise Jessi and fix her bracelet myself.

So, I bought some old jewelry at the local thrift store to learn how it was made and for practice materials. After successfully rebuilding Jessi’s treasured bracelet, I found I enjoyed this activity and set up www.RecycleBling.com

One night, as I was passing a double-wire through a set of beads to make a keychain, I found that the hole in one of the beads was too small for both wires, so I passed one wire through, and one wire around the large bead.

Although this looked odd, I kept playing with it, thinking what I might be able to make of it. I added another bead on the second wire, but two large beads together were overly elaborate, so I replaced one round bead with a flat shaped bead.

The first bead was faceted, and it clicked when I spun it against the flatter bead.

As Jessi and my son Chris were watching this activity, all three of us, all at the same time, shouted: “Fidget Bling!”
